The Friends of Newport & Carisbrooke Cemeteries
Cemetery Volunteers.
Cemetery Volunteers work in the cemetery as either Conservation Volunteers or plotting/transcribing grave markers.
The ConservationVolunteers do such things as clearing graves of ivy, cutting back trees and shrubs which have encroached on graves etc.
The Cemetery Volunteers have two documents to read, understand and accept:
- The Volunteer Cemetery Guidelines which outline the allowed activities within the Cemeteries;
- The Cemetery Risk Assessment which highlights possible hazards while working in the Cemeteries and the relevant mitigation measures.
The Cemetery Risk Assessment also includes a form for Volunteers to sign accepting the laid down working practice and giving contact details etc.
